A legislative decree to reform Italy's voluntary sector, approved by the Chamber of Deputies and now under examination in the Senate, has been strongly criticized by volunteer associations. There are around 4.5 million citizens involved in volunteer work in Italy. This reform, say representatives of the voluntary sector, does not pay enough attention to the tens of thousands of well-established organizations in every part of Italy that every day contribute to Italian life.
