Pope Francis begins a tour in Egypt on April 28th, during which he will meet with President Al-Sissi, as well as the Great Imman Al Azhar, Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, and the Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II. It has been over a year since Giulio's death, and his parents are asking the Pope to bring up their son's unsolved case. It is an intervention that is unlikely to happen, as Pope Francis is traditionally above national fights and refuses to take position. Nevertheless, with Egyptian authorities continuing to obstruct justice, it seems to be the last shot to shed light on Regeni’s murder.
