In France, many people are against President Emmanuel Macron's plans for introducing new legislation to deal with the spread of 'fake news'. Those opposed to it fear a violation of personal and political liberties, and experts are not very enthusiastic either. Macron announced that he wants to implement legislation that gives judges the opportunity to block websites and close personal internet accounts, especially during election campaigns. Moreover, internet companies such as Facebook and Google would be required to publish the identity of those who finance sponsored web pages.
