On the International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation (February 6), a group of Lithuanian MPs registered a draft legislation to criminalize female genital mutilation in Lithuania. The drafters aim not only to introduce up to 12 years' imprisonment for the crime, but also raise public awareness of such practices and the harm female genital mutilation inflicts on victims.
