Ahead of the 25 May referendum on Ireland’s abortion ban, Facebook said on 8 May that it would block political advertising from groups based outside the country. It has also introduced a tool allowing users to see all the ads a group is posting on the site, in an effort to increase the transparency of political campaigns on its platform.
