Europol’s European Cybercrime Center (EC3), which fights the most dangerous cybercrime networks across the EU, has a new head. Steven Wilson, who worked for Police Scotland for 30 years, is being tasked with continuing the EC3’s success while making it more adaptable to the rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape. Among the areas he will emphasize are the monitoring of relationships between cybercrime and traditional organized crime groups, and the connection between terrorism and Internet communications and payment systems.
