Following up on promises to unveil a new law to protect whistleblowers, the European Commission did just that on 23 April. The Commission's proposal aims to strengthen legal protections for whistleblowers throughout the EU, regardless of whether they are employed in the public or private sector. Pressure to create such a law has increased substantially in recent years, driven by several high-profile whistleblower cases like the LuxLeaks case.
