On Thursday the European Commission (EC) called on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Google to increase their efforts to stop Russian trolls ahead of the May 2019 European elections. Social media companies have to send monthly reports on Russian disinformation in Europe. In related news, the EC presented its Action Plan on Disinformation, though experts, warning that these efforts are unlikely to be enough to stop foreign actors from distorting the vote.
