Patients in the Netherlands will be able to decide which physicians are able to share their medical case file. A patient is not obliged to consent to this. Moreover, patients will have a full overview of who accessed their files. On October 4, the Dutch Senate voted for the bill proposed by Edith Schippers, minister of health, welfare and sport, in which the exchange of medical information is better regulated. Health insurers and company doctors do not get access to the electronic information.
