Several Dutch political parties expressed their concern to the minister of the interior about the commission that monitors the tapping of conversations between attorneys and their clients. Until the adoption of a new law, an independent body should test whether the security services are permitted to eavesdrop on attorneys, the court ruled last year. The Orde van Advocaten (the Dutch Bar Association) sent a letter to Parliament expressing doubts on the independence of the commission. One of its members is also chairman of the supervisor on the intelligence services.
