The Dutch Labour Party argues that companies must be obliged to make their buildings accessible to people with disabilities. The recent completion of the Dutch implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities obliges companies now only to make adaptations when clients are asking for improvements. MP Otwin van Dijk for the Dutch Labour Party finds this insufficient. Disabled persons shouldn't have to ask for improvements. He adds that in other countries, such as the US and the UK, issues like public transport have been managed far better.
