Churches and other faith-based societies in the Netherlands are used to receiving housing data, especially new addresses, of citizens who were registered with a church group, usually through Stichting Interkerkelijke Ledenadministratie (Interdenominational Administration of Members Foundation). Recently, the Dutch Parliament adopted by a large majority a motion to end this practice. According to the motion, passing on such data should not be a government task. According to Interior Minister Ronald Plasterk, the government will cease to do so by March 1, 2018, at the latest.
