The director of the Yago School, located in Sevilla, will soon have to answer in court for discriminating against the parents and their child.

The events date back to 2011, when two fathers contacted the school by email to enroll their child for the 2012-2013 school year, without hiding the fact that they were a same-sex couple. The school responded that there was no place available at that moment.

Revealing interview

Some weeks later, one of the parents contacted the school again, this time omitting the fact that they were a homoparental family, and a personal interview was scheduled.

During the interview, the director of admissions told him there were still vacancies and explained how to make the reservation and detailed the money he had to transfer in order to do so.

No misunderstanding, no place

At that moment, the father revealed his identity and showed her the email, in which the parents were told there was no place for their child. The director replied that there must have been a misunderstanding, but then called back a few days after the interview to say there was in fact no place at the school.

The prosecutor has demanded a one-year teaching ban for those responsible for violating fundamental rights and liberties, as it seems clear that the child was not accepted at the school due to the fact that his parents are homosexual.
