Can the father be present during the birth of his child? In Czech hospitals, only when he pays. According to the country's ombudsman, in agreement with the Constitutional Court, the Health Services Act explicitly gives patients the right to the have relatives or other persons present, and hospitals have an obligation to follow these wishes. In this regard, medical facilities do not supply a specific service or good so much as fulfill a legal obligation, so it is not acceptable for them to ask for money to allow fathers to be there.
