More than 1,000 preschool teachers protested in Zagreb in early May. The protest for the dignity of their profession, better working conditions and the application of the state pedagogical standard was organized by the trade union of education, media and culture. According to the 2014 research, more than 20 children in kindergarten were 13 to 18 months old, when there should be only eight such children. In the groups for the three-year-olds, there should be 14 children, but there are 26, and the groups with fewer than 28 or 30 five-year-olds do not exist.
