The music textbook for Croatian first graders contains inappropriate and stereotyped representations of women. There are two women pictured in the book — one is shown in a contrite attitude, in a long dress with an apron and with the description "mommy," while the other shows a woman in a seductive pose, with her hand behind her head, long blond hair, prominent cleavage, short skirt, high heels and described as a "woman." The authors and the Ministry of Education don't see the problem, and the ombudswoman for children warns that discriminatory practices in the school system are not uncommon.
