The crime of clandestine immigration is here to stay, at least for the time being. Despite all the promises made and, furthermore, the explicit mandate conferred by the Parliament, the Italian government has decided not to proceed with the decriminalization of clandestine immigration. Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi announced that the issue will be dealt with more organically through a specific - and more cautious - legislative act. But how long must we wait to have the useless crime struck from our criminal code?
