We are looking for the bold, the steadfast, those with civil courage who are key leaders in the human rights field. We want to distinguish and encourage them. We are looking for particular actions that are a precedent in the human rights sphere, a factor for social development, both innovative and creative. We are looking for them, because we know that often such actions go unheard and unappreciated.

Nomination criteria

Anyone can make a nomination. Nominees can be individual persons and organizations, based on specific actions and work in defense of human rights that they have engaged in during the period November 2013 – October 2014. Nominated organizations must be registered in Bulgaria. Actions or practices are eligible for nomination if they have been useful to people residing in Bulgaria, regardless of their nationality. Support Platform

The Human of the Year Award is not material or financial – the purpose is to spread the word about courageous human rights causes. From this year on, everyone can "award" their favorite nominations before the actual ceremony on December 10 by supporting their work and causes. Thanks to our platform for support, any nominee may indicate several ways through which other people can support their cause and work. Thus, anyone can contribute to the causes in which one believes. Support can be expressed in financial donations, expertise, volunteering etc.

You can vote for the Audience Award from November 1-30, 2014. The winner will be announced at the ceremony of the Human of the Year 2014 on December 10 – the International Human Rights Day.
