An Italian journalist, Fabrizio Gatti, recently spent one week in a reception center for asylum seekers in the southern Italy. What he witnessed and reported for the newspaper L'Espresso is horrific: more than 1,000 people are living in inhumane conditions, exposed to grave abuses and exploitation by organized crime. Gatti has asked for an immediate inspection by the Italian prime minister to further investigate the shameful situation.
