About 170 people are feared to have died in two separate Mediterranean shipwrecks, according to the UNHCR. The first boat reportedly disappeared with 53 people on board in the Alborán Sea between Morocco and Spain. One survivor is being treated in Morocco after spending 24 hours stranded at sea. IOM reports that the second ship left Libya with 120 on board. Three were rescued by the Italian air force, which dropped two rafts after seeing the boat sinking in rough waters. Meanwhile, the German organisation Sea Watch rescued 47 people from a sinking rubber dingy off the coast of Libya.
