According to recent revelations, the BND, Germany's foreign intelligence service, cooperated closely with the American National Security Agency (NSA). It appears that the NSA gave instructions to the BND on how to spy on European and German companies and politicians, and that the BND's spying went on for many years without any effective control. The scandal will be discussed this week in the German Bundestag as well as in the German Parliamentary Committee investigating the NSA spying scandal. Journalists and civil society call for better control over German intelligence services.
