On 28 February the European Court of Human Rights ruled on Khan v. France, stating that France had failed to provide care to Jamil Khan, an unaccompanied 12-year-old migrant, after dismantling the Calais Jungle. This violated Article 3 (prohibition of inhuman and degrading treatment) of the European Convention on Human Rights. The court unanimously ruled that France must pay the Afghan national, who now lives in the UK, 15,000 euros in compensation. The judges were not convinced that authorities had done everything to protect Khan, who belongs to the category of most vulnerable persons.
