The Croatian ombudswoman has said she will report police treatment of migrants to EU authorities. Lora Vidović made an unannounced visit to a police station in Donji Lapac in September to review records on the treatment of migrants, but her request was refused. The refusal came despite the fact that Vidović has the authority to request documents from any public body, including police departments, in cases of suspected violation of human rights. The Donji Lapac police force monitors the border region with Bosnia-Herzegovina, a common entry point for migrants entering Croatia.
