Social Media Apps Make Changes to Meet EU Regulations

Social media companies are making changes to their services ahead of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) entering force on May 25. Snapchat now says it will stop retaining certain data, including precise location history, about users in Europe who are under the age of 16, in order to comply with the GDPR. Earlier this week, messaging service WhatsApp said it would begin banning all users under the age of 16 (13 is the current minimum age) from using its platform in the European Union, though it did not specify how it intends to enforce the age requirement.
