After warnings by the European Commission to trigger
sanctions based on the rule of law procedure, Poland’s new prime minister, Mateusz
Morawiecki, indicated at that he will stay on a collision course with the EU. "From
the start of such an unfair procedure for us, until it ends, we will certainly
talk to our partners," he said. The
rule of law process would begin with a formal warning that Poland was in breach
of EU values. It could lead to the so-called Article 7 procedure and the suspension of Poland's voting rights in the EU Council.
We want our #communities to be strong and healthy. That means we all need to be cautious, act responsibly and stay informed during #COVID19. That’s why @LibertiesEU will be sharing daily updates and a weekly newsletter devoted to #HumanRightsUnderCorona.
