As migrant deaths continue to mount in the Mediterranean - with more than 700 perishing in recent days - Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muižnieks calls on Europe to wake up about the crisis on its borders. Among the most important issues: figuring out how to address a fearful public about immigration. "Political leaders and opinion makers will have to confront these fears from a principled standpoint, stressing the values and principles that have defined a certain idea of Europe built on tolerance, acceptance and solidarity," writes Mr. Muižnieks.
