The amicus curiae became a legal instrument that can effectively be used in Romania by human rights NGOs. APADOR-CH broke the ice by using the amicus curiae to intervene twice in cases discussing the constitutionality of laws in cases judged by the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR). Any NGO with expertise in a particular field, who seeks to support CCR, may intervene in a proceeding before the Court by sending an amicus curiae.
