Gli elettori britannici hanno scelto di uscire dall'Unione Europea, ma il Regno Unito non ha ancora lasciato. In realtà, si tratta di un processo piuttosto lungo.

L'unica via legale per concretizzare la Brexit – o l'uscita di qualunque altro stato membro dall'Unione Europea – è dando attuazione ad una clausola oscura e controversa del Trattato di Lisbona: l'articolo 50. Questo dà ad un paese un periodo di tempo di due anni per negoziare i termini dell'uscita e non è mai stato utilizzato finora. Tom Clark del Guardian spiega come può accadere.
