La Corte Europea dei Diritti Umani (Corte EDU) ha informato il governo polacco che valuterà il caso riguardante i rifugiati siriani a cui è stato illegalmente impedito di presentare richiesta di protezione internazionale in Polonia. Nel luglio 2017 i richiedenti hanno attraversato il confine tra Polonia e Bielorussia a Terespol dove hanno dichiarato di voler presentare richiesta di asilo. Non potevano restare in Bielorussia perché i loro visti erano scaduti e rischiavano l'espulsione. Nel rigettare le loro richieste, la polizia di frontiera ha violato la CEDU.
