Il numero dei rom nelle cosiddette "scuole speciali" della Repubblica Ceca è ancora sproporzionatamente alto, è quanto sostiene il Consiglio d'Europa esaminando le sentenze con cui la CEDU ha condannato il paese per aver collocato i bambini rom nelle scuole speciali dal 2007. Il vice-segretario per la questione rom Bunjes Ulrich ha affermato che il numero degli alunni delle scuole speciali è costantemente sceso negli ultimi anni, "ma vorremmo vedere miglioramenti anche in riferimento ai bambini rom - lo scorso anno la loro proporzione [nelle scuole speciali] è cresciuta dal 28.2% al 32.4%.
