Il governo spagnolo chiede di entrare a far parte del Consiglio sui Diritti Umani delle Nazioni Unite prima delle elezioni del novembre 2017. Per supportare la sua nomina, il governo ha presentato 10 proposte per il 2018-2020. Sorprende in effetti la corsa improvvisa con cui il governo spagnolo ha presentato la sua candidatura; sicuramente il modo migliore per dimostrare il suo impegno a questa agenzia è quello di rispettare le raccomandazioni poste dagli inviati speciali, dai gruppo di lavoro e dai comitati delle Nazioni Unite.
