Nella sua richiesta, che arriva dopo i risultati piuttosto deludenti per il suo partito alle elezioni di domenica, Virginia Raggi ha dichiarato che ulteriori arrivi potrebbero aumentare le tensioni sociali in città. Il Ministro dell'Interno ha chiesto alle città italiane di prepararsi ad accogliere i 250,000 nuovi arrivi previsti per quest'anno, dopo i 180,000 dello scorso anno.
