Per i cittadini cechi, vivere di prestazioni sociali può essere peggio che rubare o uccidere un ladro, secondo un'indagine del Centro Ricerche sull'Opinione Pubblica. Non cercare lavoro e vivere di sussidi viene descritto come totalmente immorale dal 77% degli intervistati. Uccidere un sospetto ladro è considerato inaccettabile dal 41%. Tradimento, droghe e corruzione sono tutti considerati più accettabili che non vivere di benefici senza cercare lavoro. Questo evidenzia lo stigma della povertà e dei gruppi marginali, così come l'enfasi posta sul valore economico dell'individuo in società.
