Per rafforzare il legame tra partiti nazionali ed europei, una riforma stabilisce che solo i partiti nazionali - non i singoli - sono autorizzati a creare un partito europeo in grado di essere finanziato. La proposta, approvata dalla Commissione Affari Costituzionali del Parlamento Europeo, obbliga i partiti a esporre logo e manifesto del loro affiliato europeo sui loro siti e le informazioni false comporteranno la cancellazione della registrazione. Con tale modifica si intende aumentare la trasparenza e garantire un uso appropriato dei fondi pubblici per avvicinare di più i cittadini all'UE.
