Un gruppo di migranti trattenuti nel centro di detenzione per migranti (CIE) di Madrid ha inscenato una protesta la notte del 18 ottobre durata 11 ore. Sono saliti sul tetto al grido "Libertà!" e ci sono rimasti tutta la notte. Questi centri detengono i migranti irregolari per assicurare la loro espulsione, ossia per eseguire una sanzione non penale ma amministrativa. La loro stessa esistenza è considerata una violazione di diritti umani e ci sono state molte denunce per violenze sistematiche, maltrattamenti e condizioni precarie.
