Martedì il Parlamento Rumeno ha approvato all'unanimità una mozione per rottamare il decreto che indeboliva le misure anti-corruzione. Il voto è arrivato in seguito alle proteste di massa scoppiate in tutto il paese il 31 gennaio. Il 5 febbraio il Primo Ministro Sorin Grindeanu, sotto la pressione dell'opinione pubblica nazionale e internazionale, lo ha ritirato. Nonostante questo, continuano le proteste contro un governo che molti considerano corrotto. Grindeanu, commentando da Bruxelles, ha dichiarato: "La parte civile della nostra società ha reagito. E' una cosa molto buona per il paese."
