Dodici paesi non hanno ancora versato nulla del contributo di 3 bilioni di euro per l'accordo UE-Turchia, secondo un rapporto della Commissione Europea che uscirà mercoledì. Belgio, Austria, Polonia, Lituania, Slovenia, Croazia, Romania, Bulgaria, Grecia, Malta e Spagna non hanno contribuito al fondo per l'assistenza umanitaria per i rifugiati in Turchia. Secondo la Commissione Europea l'aspetto deterrente dell'accordo sembra funzionare: nelle tre settimane precedenti all'entrata in vigore dell'accordo, 26,878 migranti erano arrivati nelle isole greche; dal 4 aprile, soltanto 5,847.
