Nonostante la decisione del Coordinamento belga per la valutazione delle minacce di ridurre il livello di minaccia terroristica da 3 (grave) a 2 (medio), il governo ha deciso di tenere i soldati per le strade. La decisione porta ad una normalizzazione della loro presenza. Tre associazioni, tra cui la Lega Belga per i Diritti Umani, considerano la presenza inquietante e illegittima. Queste tre associazioni hanno protestato contro i governatori delle province di Antwerp, Liège e Bruxelles, che vedono ancora tutte la presenza dei soldati per le strade.
