L'Istituto Olandese per i Diritti Umani ha dichiarato che il governo olandese deve fare di più per garantire i diritti umani nei territori d'oltremare di Bonaire, Saint Eustatius e Saba. In un recente rapporto, l'istituto afferma che c'è molto da migliorare sulle isole per quanto riguarda sicurezza sociale, lavoro, reddito, diritti dei bambini, sicurezza e legge penale. Per questo occorre firmare accordi specifici in base ai quali applicare le norme sui diritti umani. Il ministro degli affari sociali e del lavoro, per esempio, dovrebbe fissare degli standard sociali minimi.
