Come ha spiegato Witold Waszczykowski, ministro polacco degli esteri, "non sono stati rimossi, ma il loro mandato è giunto alla fine." La Commissione Venezia ha confermato che la notizia ufficiale è stata data dal governo polacco, nonostante i nuovi membri non fossero stati ancora nominati. La Suchocka, primo presidente della Commissione Venezia, ne faceva parte dal 1991. Di fronte alla sua rimozione, ha semplicemente commentato, "E' una decisione del governo."
