Il governo olandese non costringerà i Comuni ad accogliere i richiedenti asilo contro lo loro volontà. Il presidente del PvdA in Parlamento Diederik Samson (Partito Laburista) lo ha dichiarato durante il programma televisivo Nieuwsuur il 12 ottobre. "Abbiamo deciso di non farlo più," ha risposto Samson ad una domanda sul problema verificatosi nel paese di Oranje (140 abitanti). Il Segretario di Stato Dijkhoff ha deciso, contro gli attuali accordi, di raddoppiare il numero di richiedenti asilo da 700 a 1,400. In precedenza, Dijkhoff non aveva mai detto di voler mettere da parte gli accordi.
