Il Ministro della Difesa austriaco ha elaborato un piano per rinnovare la politica sui migranti dell'UE, definendo un tetto massimo per l'immigrazione e consentendo di fare domanda di asilo solo da fuori UE. Hans Peter Doskozil, socialdemocratico, ha dichiarato al quotidiano tedesco Bild che sono necessarie modifiche urgenti per creare un sistema più ordinato di immigrazione legale per chi ha diritto all'asilo. "Dobbiamo ammettere a noi stessi ed essere onesti sul fatto che l'UE ha capacità limitate di assorbire altri migranti. Dobbiamo fermare l'immigrazione illegale" ha aggiunto Doskozil.
