Dopo il voto la Turchia ha richiamato il suo ambasciatore a Berlino. Il presidente Erdogan ha criticato gli 11 parlamentari tedeschi di origini turche chiedendo "Che razza di turchi sono?" In un tweet il sindaco di Ankara li ha definiti traditori. Per gli Armeni il bilancio dei morti nel 1915 è di 1.5 milioni di persone, ma la Turchia sostiene che sia più basso e rifiuta il termine "genocidio".
