Un progetto di legge per stabilire i requisiti generali, le condizioni e le procedure per compiere l'eutanasia, per regolamentare diritti e doveri dei pazienti che hanno espresso la loro volontà sul tema e anche per disciplinare l'autorizzazione a realizzarla è al momento in discussione al Seimas (il Parlamento lituano). L'adozione di questa legge riempirebbe un gap nel sistema legale, dove l'eutanasia non è disponibile per porre fine alle sofferenze dei malati terminali in stato di tormento fisico e/o emotivo.
