Il programma di salvataggio italiano Mare Nostrum, che negli ultimi anni ha salvato migliaia di migranti nel Mar Mediterraneo, è ufficialmente finita il 1 novembre. Sarà sostituita dall'operazione dell'UE Triton, nonostante le richieste delle ONG italiane di continuarla.
"L'Italia ha fatto il suo dovere" ha detto il Ministro degli Interni Angelino Alfano, sottolineando anche quanti soldi il paese risparmierà con la fine di Mare Nostrum.
