La Corte europea dei diritti dell'uomo ha condannato l'Italia per la violazione dell'articolo 3 della Convenzione (divieto della tortura e dei trattamenti inumani e degradanti), nel caso di un uomo arrestato che, tra l'arresto e il suo arrivo in carcere, ha subito la frattura di due costole ed altre lesioni. La Corte ha assegnato alla vittima 15.000 € di danni e ha ammonito le autorità italiane per non avere indagato adeguatamente sul fatto.
