Fondata a Firenze nel 1957, l'Arci è stata creata attorno ai valori dell'anti-fascismo e della solidarietà. Per 60 anni i suoi membri hanno promosso mutualismo, giustizia sociale, libertà, laicità e solidarietà in Italia. Offrono informazione attraverso la formazione sulla storia della mafia, o sulle lotte partigiane e sui valori promossi dalla Costituzione Italiana. Il suo presidente, Francesca Chiavacci, ha celebrato l'evento a Palazzo Montecitorio con un discorso incisivo che racconta la storia dell'Arci e ha ringraziato tutti quelli che hanno contribuito al suo successo negli anni.
