L'Italia intende elaborare un "codice di condotta" per le ONG che salvano persone in mare conducendole nei porti italiani. Il piano ha il sostegno di Francia, Germania e Commissione Europea. La proposta è stata annunciata lunedì, dopo le minacce dell'Italia della scorsa settimana di impedire a queste navi di entrare nei suoi porti e dopo l'arrivo di circa 12,000 persone nel giro di pochi giorni. Un portavoce della Commissione Europea ha dichiarato che il codice aiuterebbe a coordinare meglio i soccorsi in mare, ma resta poco chiaro cosa dovrebbe contenere esattamente il codice.
