Il Vaticano ha cercato di fermare l'uscita in Italia del film sull'omosessualità "Weekend", vietandolo nelle sale. Dopo che il Comitato di Valutazione dei Film della Conferenza Episcopale Italiana l'ha classificato come "sconsigliato, inutile e scabroso" la proiezione è stata limitata a 10 schermi. La buona notizia è che sembra che la limitazione della visione del film da parte del Vaticano non faccia altro che contribuire al suo grande successo: infatti il film indipendente del 2011 su una storia d'amore gay ha guadagnato più di tutti i film proiettati nel paese nel suo primo weekend.
