L'ex presidente rumeno Ion Iliescu e altri 13 funzionari pubblici sono accusati di crimini contro l'umanità per gli ordini impartiti durante una protesta a Bucarest nel 1990. Nel giugno di quell'anno Iliescu aveva convocato 10,000 minatori armati di mazze per aiutare a stroncare una manifestazione nella capitale. Quattro persone sono state uccise dopo l'arrivo dei minatori, 1,380 sono rimaste ferite e 1,250 sono state arrestate, secondo i dati ufficiali. Tra gli altri accusati ci sono anche un ex primo ministro e il capo dei servizi segreti dell'epoca.
